Our Mission

The mission of The Art Lounge is to function as the art center of South Padre Island; attracting art enthusiasts far and wide to collect and create with us. The gallery strives to grow individual awareness, participation, appreciation, and enjoyment of the arts while building a strong, thriving, and spirited arts community on the Island.

The lounge opened its doors on May 13th, 2022 in an out-of-the-way and unexpected location of an old marina barn on South Padre Island, TX. The space was large and affordable, the management was relaxed and the views of the ocean right outside the door were breathtaking. A high-end luxury art gallery hidden in an old barn might not seem like a good fit. But we think it’s magical.

Taking themes from the art deco era, walking into the lounge is like walking through an old speakeasy down a hidden street during the opulent roaring 20’s. It may not look like much from the outside, but when you walk through the doors there’s an element of surprise as you the high ceilings, black walls, stunning art, and art deco chandeliers come into view.

When visiting the lounge you might find an artist or maker in the middle of creating their latest masterpiece. Maybe you’ll find musicians practicing or holding an intimate living room-style concert. You could find a yoga instructor finishing teaching a morning class while a writer preps his space for his next workshops. More than an art gallery, the lounge truly serves as a gathering space for creatives and collectors.
